Hello Friends,
Fall is such a wonderful time of year. The trees have amazing color, we pull out our cozy sweaters and High Point Market happens! High Point, North Carolina hosts designers, trades people and industry professionals from all over the globe twice a year for its Market. It is an opportunity to see new designs and products within a 13 block area. There are 2,000 exhibitors who participate and 11,500,000 square feet of showroom space. It is an opportunity to see, touch, sit and inspect furniture, fabrics, wallpaper, art, décor and antiques. In addition, there are numerous education seminars, guest speakers and networking opportunities. It is a time to get energized and inspired.
Here are some of my take aways:
Sustainable – There is increased focus in creating items that will help protect our planet. These include the items that are used in the manufacturing and how they’re manufactured.
Mixed metals continue to be popular. No longer are you locked into picking your finish and having it be consistent all over your home.
Boucle – Boucle seems to be the “go to” fabric on many of the upholstery pieces. This fabric adds a textural element to furniture which can especially be needed in a room you where you have a neutral décor.
Art Deco and Retro are having a resurgence. Many furniture and lighting lines have a “feel” of the glamorous days of Hollywood. There are curved sofas, acrylic and glass and touches of metal (especially chrome) added to case goods to create a bit of glam.
BERNHARDT SHOWROOM
LED Fixtures – Thanks to LEDs, lighting has gone where it has never gone before. Fixtures can be sleek and fluid and molded into shapes that weren’t possible in years gone by.
SCHONBEK SHOWROOM
I could go on and on about all of the exciting discoveries and showrooms. If you would like some help in learning how you can update your home and add some freshness to it I would be happy to assist. Call 952.210.0685 to schedule your appointment.
The world’s largest chest of drawers is a High Point landmark. It is 38 feet tall.
