I hope you are all doing well and enjoying this gorgeous summer-like weather.
As you may recall from my last newsletter, I am in the final stages of completing my home office update. I am starting to move things in and get it organized so it will function at the highest level. Although it is early, I LOVE IT!!!! It has been a long time coming. I started seriously planning this last November. I had kept an idea folder and had some plans but nothing serious prior to that. Then the project was put on hold until this summer. A special thanks goes out to Dianna at California Closet for her expertise and patience and the California Closet Installation Crew for their attention to detail and perfection.
I know I have written about “Project Planning” in a previous newsletter but I have a few more hints to add to that list.
- Keep an idea folder (either digitally or hardcopy) with images of what you want to see in your space or how you want it to look.
- Make a list of what is working in the space and what isn’t working. What issues would you like to solve?
- Create a list of “must haves”, “nice to haves” and “if possible”. This will allow you to determine the priority of the items you would like addressed.
- Enlist the help of professionals early in the process. Hiring a professional will help you to avoid costly mistakes, stay on track and make the process run smoothly.
- Don’t wait until the last minute. Updates can take time to plan and execute. Products need to be ordered and installers need to be scheduled. Waiting until a month before your big party will increase your stress and challenge a positive outcome.
It seems like most of us have something we would like to do to update or improve our home. We often are hesitant to take the initial steps because the process can seem overwhelming or you don’t know where to start or you don’t have time and wish it were done yesterday. Now is the time.
Your home is the one place that is yours to enjoy and give you comfort from the stress of the outside world. You deserve to have it function at its highest level and beauty.
