Hi Friends!
Can you believe it is February??? I feel like I just took down my holiday decorations and now we are on to the next month! This newsletter will be a bit different from the others I plan to do. I am dedicating it to a project I had the privilege to be a part of and I want to share it with you.
The Community Service Committee of our local ASID chapter did a refresh at Brittany’s Place which is a shelter for girls who have been victims of human trafficking or are at risk of sexual exploitation. Check out their website https://www.180degrees.org/brittanys-place.html. The Star and Tribune featured this project in the Inspired section of their paper on January 30. https://www.startribune.com/volunteer-interior-designers-turn-girls-shelter-from-drab-to-dreamy-for-teens-escaping-sex-trafficki/600016712/
The Committee is co-chaired by Lisa Ball and Jennie Korsbon. Brittany’s Place was in need of a refresh. The rooms were drab and looked like a boarding school before anyone moved into it. Over 19 designers and design professionals, along with several showrooms, donated time, talent, furnishings and accessories. Our budget was EXTREMELY small! Thank you to a few friends who contributed to the cause so we could afford a few “luxury” items like mattress pads. Without everyone’s contribution this would not have been as successful.
I had the pleasure to be partnered with Lisa Ball and Bridget Zak. Our task was to convert a triple bedroom into a lounge space and three office rooms into bedrooms. Below you will see the various “before” and “after” photos.
Thank you for allowing me to share this project with you. It was such a joy to work on this rewarding endeavor.
If your home is in need of a refresh, I’d be glad to help. Call Terry Gustafson Interior Design 952.210.0685.
