Hello Friends!
Happy Holidays! I can’t believe December is upon us. This is always a very busy time of year. We often start to feel as though there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done. I want to take a moment to remind everyone (including myself) to take a moment to enjoy the season. Sometimes we get so fixated on trying to create the “perfect” holiday that we forget to enjoy the process of creating it.
Our home is the foundation (sorry I couldn’t resist 😉 in creating a welcoming space for family and friends.
I hope these hints will be of some help in getting your home ready for the holidays:
- Appeal to the five senses – try to have a little something which will interact with each of our senses.
- Create a focal point – often this is the tree or perhaps Santa’s Village. Just like good design, there should be a focal point.
- Select a color or theme to assist in guiding you with your decorations. The above photo is one of the 2017 windows at Le Printemps in Paris. The holiday window displays always had a theme.
- Less is more – often we feel the need to pull out all of our ornaments and decorations. By selecting a few of the special ones they will stand out more.
- Use a holiday diffuser or candles to create an aroma that sets the mood for the holidays.
- Don’t forget the music to get everyone in the mood.
This is the time of year to reflect on all that is good in our lives and the blessings we have. Take a moment to sit, relax and enjoy the twinkling of the lights.
